How long has Dr. Van Laeken been in practice?
Dr. Van Laeken has had her plastic surgery practice for over 25 years.
Is there a fee for consultation?
The cost for a cosmetic consultation is $175.00 and will be credited toward your balance if surgery is completed within six months of the original quote. Please note that second opinion consultations are $250.00.
How long is the wait to get in for a consult?
Approximately 4-6 weeks.
How long will the consultation appointment take?
Plan to spend approximately one hour in our office for registration, consultation and a customized quote review with our cosmetic coordinator.
How long is a quote valid for?
All quotes are guaranteed for six months. Thereafter we reserve the right to adjust the quote.
What is your cancellation policy?
We require 48 hours notice to cancel or re-schedule an appointment. If less than 48 hours notice is given, a cancellation fee will apply.
How much is surgery?
The cost varies depending on the procedure or procedures you are interested in, the amount of time needed in the OR and if any implants are required. Our cosmetic coordinator will generate an itemized quote tailored to your specific requirements as outlined by Dr. Van Laeken.
What methods of payment are accepted?
Several payment options are available including cash, Interac, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, certified cheque and money order.
Do you offer financing?
We are registered with Medicard & Beautifi. Financing is available in terms from 6 months up to 6 years. Brochures and applications are available through our office. Please refer to our finance section.
May I make monthly installments prior to my procedures instead of financing through an independent company?
Yes, payments can be made prior to your surgery date in monthly instalments however, the final balance must be paid in full two weeks prior to the scheduled procedure. It is also worth noting that a $1000.00 deposit must also be paid in full at the time of booking surgery.
Is the procedure covered by any insurance plans or MSP?
Some procedures may be covered if they are implemented for medical reasons. Please contact our office for more information.
How long is the wait for surgery?
Cosmetic procedures can usually be booked within 4-6 weeks of seeing Dr. Van Laeken at either of the private surgical facilities that she operates at. For procedures covered by MSP, the surgery will be booked at one of the public hospitals and you will be placed on a surgical wait list which is approximately 12 months-2 years long.
How long should I take off from work?
This will depend on the procedure and the type of work that you do. For general guidelines, please refer to the page for the surgery you are interested in. It is advisable to check with Dr. Van Laeken at the time of consultation regarding your particular situation.
How long should I stop exercising for after surgery?
It depends on the type of surgery you are having. Please see individual procedure pages. It is best to check with Dr. Van Laeken at the time of consultation for a definitive answer based on your occupation or level of activity.
What hospitals does Dr. Van Laeken operate at?
BC Children’s, Mount St. Joseph, St. Paul’s and Lions Gate hospitals. She also operates at False Creek Surgical Centre, ASC Surgical Centre and Cambie Surgery Centre which are private facilities.
May I see before and after pictures?
At the time of consultation Dr. Van Laeken would be happy to show you pictures of past patients who have had similar surgery to the one you are interested in. Also, please visit our photo gallery.
